Barcelona in two daysThe essentials without the rush: the Gaudí day first, with the Sagrada Família booked for early morning, and the whole second day for the old city, ending at the beach.2 days· 6 stops
Barcelona in three daysThe uptown day, the old-city day and the viewpoint day. Three days is enough to fit in the Sant Pau hospital, a ten-minute walk from the Sagrada Família and almost always skipped, and El Born, which is where you have dinner.3 days· 9 stops
Barcelona in four daysFour days make room for the Art Nouveau that is not Gaudí — Sant Pau and the Palau de la Música, both World Heritage — and for a full day in El Born with the Picasso. The days are grouped by area so you never cross the city twice.4 days· 13 stops

Park Güell💡Watch for pickpockets on La Rambla and the metro
Barcelona has earned its reputation on this. It is not dangerous, it is annoying: they go for open bags and phones left on café tables. Wallet in your front pocket, rucksack on your front in the metro and phone put away. Do that and nothing happens.
💡The Sagrada Família sells out weeks ahead
It is not a turn-up-and-go: you buy on the official site with a day and time, and in season it vanishes. The towers cost extra and you choose which (the Nativity one has the better views). Go first thing in the morning: the coloured light comes in from the east side.
💡Eat one street back from La Rambla
La Rambla and the front row of the Boquería are among the priciest and worst places to eat in the city. Head into El Born, Gràcia or the back of the market and you eat properly. And the weekday lunch menu costs what a single dish costs in the tourist zone.
