A day for the capital, a day for the island's interior and a day for the south. The interior is the surprise: forty minutes from the beach you are at twelve hundred metres among pines, and that is what makes this island.

A suggestion, not a rule: once you create the trip you can split it up however you like.

💡The interior is measured in bends, not kilometres
On the map Tejeda is forty kilometres from Las Palmas and looks like half an hour; on the road it is a long hour of non-stop hairpins. Double whatever the sat-nav says for any drive through the middle of the island, and if someone in the group gets carsick, put them in the front.
💡North and south do not share the same weather
Gran Canaria is small but the two sides have different climates: the north often wakes up under cloud, the panza de burro, while the south is clear almost always. Half an hour in the car changes the whole day, so if you wake up to grey skies in Las Palmas do not cancel the beach: drive south.
