Brussels in 1 dayThe essentials in one day on foot: the Grand Place, the covered galleries, the cathedral, the Mont des Arts viewpoint and, if the afternoon holds, the Atomium by metro. The centre is small and you cross it in twenty minutes.1 day· 6 stops
Brussels in 2 daysThe historic centre on day one, and on day two what the city has that is its own: the comic-strip mural route, the Magritte museum, the European quarter and the Cinquantenaire park. Two days is the right size for Brussels; with more, take the train to Bruges or Ghent.2 days· 10 stops
Brussels in 3 daysThe centre on day one — it's small and entirely walkable: the Grand Place, the covered galleries from 1847 and the comic museum. Day two the art hill and the Magritte. And day three what sits outside and needs the metro: the Atomium, the Cinquantenaire and the European quarter, which is more interesting than it sounds.3 days· 10 stops

Cinquantenaire Park💡It is the best base in Belgium
Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp are all under an hour away by train, leaving every half hour. If you have four days, do not spend them all here: sleep in Brussels and go out for the day — it is cheaper and you see three more cities.
💡Brussels is bilingual and it shows in everything
Signs are in French and Dutch, and streets have two names. In practice French is spoken more in the city, and English works almost everywhere. Starting in French and switching if it does not land is what locals do.
💡Avoid restaurants with photos on the door
Rue des Bouchers, next to the Grand Place, is the classic trap: waiters calling you in and inflated prices. Chips are eaten standing at a friterie, mussels are ordered in season and the good beer is in neighbourhood bars, not on the square.
