💡Nobody uses cash here, and you won't need the crowns

Everything goes on card or phone, down to a one-euro coffee; some places don't take notes at all. Don't change money before you come: you won't need it.

💡In winter it's dark by four, and in summer it never really gets dark

November to February gives you seven hours of daylight: put the outdoor things at midday. In June, on the other hand, it's light until eleven and the whole city is outside.

💡Rent a bike on day one and forget the metro

There are more bikes than cars and a proper lane on every street, wide and with its own traffic light. Signal with your hand before turning and never stop in the middle of the lane: it's one of the few things that annoys a Dane.

💡Copenhagen is expensive: eat at the market and drink from the tap

A restaurant main easily hits thirty euros. At Torvehallerne and the street stands you eat for ten, the tap water is excellent, and many museums are free one day a week.

💡Everyone speaks perfect English and queues without complaint

Everybody, of every age, speaks better English than you do. Queues are respected, nobody crosses on red even with no traffic, and nobody shouts on public transport. Fitting in takes very little.
